Sinagua Middle School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) World School.
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme is a challenging and internationally recognized educational framework that encourages students to become globally aware problem solvers who are creative, critical, and reflective thinkers. In the MYP, students make valuable connections between curricula and the real world and develop skills to live lives of purpose and meaning, helping to create a better and more peaceful world.
The MYP in FUSD is a three-year program offered at Sinagua Middle School. All sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade Sinagua students are learners in the IB MYP programme. As such, they take courses in the eight content areas required by IB for Years 1-3 at Sinagua Middle School: Arts (performing and fine), Design (STEM, Computers, Media, et al.), Individuals and Societies, Language Acquisition (Navajo or Spanish), Language and Literature, Mathematics, Physical and Health Education, Sciences. Sinagua has International Baccalaureate MYP trained administrators and educators, an IB MYP schedule and course catalog, and IB MYP policies that reflect the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programmme philosophy and requirements for all IB MYP World Schools.
Students who wish to continue their IB experience are encouraged to attend Coconino High School to take part in the IB Diploma Programme during their Junior and Senior years and pursue the IB Diploma.
