A STEM Magnet Program at Sinagua Middle School

The MIT-e program is a specialized STEM magnet program designed to engage students in hands-on, project-based, and inquiry-driven learning. Through a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, MIT-e prepares students to be academically competitive in the 21st century.

Students in MIT-e explore real-world challenges, develop critical thinking skills, and build a strong foundation for advanced STEM coursework. The program is directly aligned with the Coconino Institute of Technology (CIT) at Coconino High School, offering a seamless pathway for students interested in continuing their STEM education.

MIT-e empowers students to innovate, collaborate, and lead, shaping the problem-solvers and creators of tomorrow.

  • Thank you for your interest in being a part of the MIT-e program at Sinagua Middle School for the 2026/2027 school year.  We are currently no longer accepting student applications.  Please check back November 2026  for the 2027/2028 application window. 

    Acceptance letters for the 2026/2027 school year were sent on March 6, 2026.  Please kindly check your email.  If your student was placed on the waitlist, we will be sure to reach out if a spot becomes available.

  • To continue in the MIT-e Program, students must meet high academic and behavioral standards.  A grade of 3.0 or above is required in both science and engineering courses to stay in good standing.  Grades are reviewed each quarter, and any student earning below 3.0 will be placed on academic probation for the following quarter, giving them an opportunity to raise their grade to 3.0 or higher.  With grade improvement, the student will remain in the program.  However, if they are unable to improve their grades, they will be placed in alternative science and elective courses to better support their success.  Students must maintain their grades for the rest of the year, as probation is only permitted once per school year.
